Elevated Radiation Map – Geiger Counter Measurements in Germany & Europe
This interactive map shows hundreds of locations across Germany and Europe where citizen scientists have measured elevated levels of ionising radiation with Geiger counters. Data is sourced from opengeiger.de and the Geigerzählerforum. Each map marker is colour-coded by the measured dose rate in µSv/h: blue for low background (<0.5 µSv/h), green for slightly elevated (0.5–1 µSv/h), orange for high (1–3 µSv/h), red-orange for very high (3–10 µSv/h), and dark red for extreme readings (≥10 µSv/h). Locations include old mine tailings, areas with naturally elevated background radiation, and other radioactive anomalies measured by hobbyist physicists, geology enthusiasts, and radiation safety researchers.
